Re: Derbi DRD [83cc] | Update 7.12.

A little bit snow here now.. so I cannot ride the Derbi to get it dyno'ed. Got to wait till the snow melts away.. it's promising for the next week's friday "dry" weather (+2C temp).
But the TS125R is on that pic. I haven't ridden it for a while.. mainly because I haven't jetted the carb and I need a RM125 intake manifold. I've sold the plastics and I'm sending them for the new owner.. then I can order the '03-> plastics, gas tank, rear subframe and airbox. I already have a SDG seat for it.
Now I have connected the fuel pump, but I need longer fuel hoses and some protection for the electric stuff.
And I bought a carbonfibre Metrakit Thrower silencer.. Pure pornography. It's in way better condition than my previous Metrakit silencer was! The sound is going to be a lot more quiet and deeper.
Currently I'm trying to get a place for the TSR, so I can buy a YZ250 '93 engine and RM250 exhaust pipe.. then it's going to be a blast to ride! + it needs quite a lot welding, so I can fit the '03-> RM125/250 parts.
PS. I'm going to post some pictures of my porting work tomorrow.
I've started porting cylinders, cylinderheads and crankcases for customers.

Re: Derbi DRD [83cc] | Update 7.12.
I keep the TS outside because I use it as a daily (expect when the roads are covered with ice), but the Derbi is in a warehouse.
I really do hope that, the snow melts away.. cannot wait for the results!
Right now there's extremely slippery! Even on a car the tires don't have any grip, because of mix of ice and snow.
I have ridden on my little bro's Yamaha DT50X '11 with Pirelli Sport Demons.. on snow they didn't hold at all and I crashed 6 times on it. The plastics are still okay, but the brake and clutch levers got broken many times (cost me approx. 100 euros; 1 brake lever costs 21 euros and clutch lever 17 euros).
Porting stuff:
Airsal 48mm|EBS050 - the cylinder, that is in the Derbi (unfinished in the picture)

Another Airsal 48mm|EBS050

Original cylinder|EBE050 ('97-99) - for a customer

Airsal 40,30mm|AM6 - for a customer

Re: Derbi DRD [83cc] | Update 7.12.
Shit.
There's about -15C.. I have tried it with E85 fuel and needs some tuning to ignition and jetting.
Tomorrow should be running fine.. then I'll go to highway and try GSF -dyno.
And if my cellphone's GPS works.. I'll get you the top speed of this beast.
Got to get a front headlight. I ordered on Thursday smoke tinted rear light - should arrive on Monday.
Also the YZ250 engine is coming on Wednesday or Thursday.
PS. Updated the #1 post.

Re: Derbi DRD [81,4cc] | Almost finished
Almost finished..

Did a quick ride 2 days ago. Runs great, but I sold the original ignition and now trying to earn some more money, so I can buy a Malossi MHR Selettra inner rotor kit. Also, I need to buy a new radiator.. fitted some radiator, I found from my storage, but started leaking after an hour of riding.
Now there's some snow and ice on the roads, so .. I'm not really busy at working on the Derbi.
At the picture I have already started tearing the bike a bit.
Too bad my cellphone didn't feel like turning on the GPS..
Didn't get the top speed, neither 0-100km/h.
Atleast I did more than 100km/h, because I rode at 100km/h area.. and it was very easy to pass the cars.
Tourists (russians) looked a bit confused, when saw me passing them with a moped.
But, it does have a lot of power.. it wheelies with just using gas on 4th gear too, with 12/46 gear ratios!
And runs on E85, because I received the methanol today.. and it's too cold at outside (methanol requires atleast +10C).

Nice, luckily there was only 2 days of snow here.
We can ride all the time if we want
.
I hope as soon as the snow melts you're gonna post a video for us.

Yeap, well the snow is melting now slowly..
the roads should be dry on next weekend.
Probably going to get a video of me vs. my friend with a KTM EXC 125 '03.
If there's more than 10C warm, I can use methanol..
Now I've changed 13T front sprocket. In theory it would be possible to reach 140km/h top speed..
Got to make the GPS work on the cellphone.. cannot wait to try 0-100km/h and the top speed.

I noticed, that I haven't posted any pictures of the transfer channels.. after the epoxy work.

- modern cylinder sleeve shape (round instead of sharp edge)
- transfer channels re-directed
- transfer channels' "splitter" filled with epoxy and edges rounded

Re: Derbi DRD [81,4cc] | Update 16.3.
Update 16.3.
_________________
I have been working on with the brakes now..
- Aprilia RS125 4-piston front brake caliper
- Nissin master cylinder (front) - from KX85
- Nissin 1-piston rear brake calpier - from Suzuki TS125R
- Brembon master cylinder (rear) - from KTM EXC450
All working now and it's a lot safer to ride.
On Wednesday there's going to be about 10-11C warm, which means that I can jet the carb for methanol.
Now the bike is running on E98 gas.. because it was very hard to start on cold weather with E85 fuel.
I'll (try to remember to) post for you a soundcheck video on Wednesday..
I only have some idling videos of the Derbi now.
Got to say I love the PWK carb - very easy to setup the correct jetting!
Bad news:
The epoxy in the cylinder has started to melt.. so I need to find new & better epoxy that won't start melting because of gas/alcohol.
Some pics..

Had to post a pic of the TSR too..

Re: Derbi DRD [81,4cc] | Update 16.3.
Looks wicked! I really like the goldd supermoto rims! But isn't the derbi quite useless in the weather u are having at the moment? Because it runs on methanol right?

Re: Derbi DRD [81,4cc] | Update 16.3.
It is useless, but fun.
There's been now for about 2 weeks +8-11C warm.. but next week it's going to be less than +2C.
It's running on 80% methanol right now (16,5% E98 gas and 3,5% Klotz 2-stroke oil). Way easier to start at below +10C.
Found out, that an epoxy called Belzona 1111 resists alcohol (e.g ethanol, methanol).
It's expensive stuff, but worth it. Not sure when it's going to arrive.. because I had to order it (yesterday).
I have a soundcheck video now (yesterday recorded).. just had forgotten to upload it.

Very nice project!!!
Do you have some more pictures of the brake calliper? I tried to fit Nissin callipers (4 piston) on my Derbi but they where way to big.

Re: Derbi DRD [81,4cc] | Video (very short & bad quality)
Running with E98 fuel at that video. With methanol/gas mix it couldn't be started with #55 pilot jet (way too cold at outside).
Needs atleast #65 pilot jet.
________
@Xtreme06 - I'll take a pic for you off the RS125 caliper.
Bigger sport bikes have very wide (front) brake calipers.. it's going to be an extremely tight fit.
I used to have a Tokico 4-piston brake caliper from a GSXR750, which I attached to a Derbi Senda 125R (with supermoto wheels and 300mm brake disc).. there was only about 1.50mm clearance from the brake caliper to spokes! -After modifications.

Re: Derbi DRD [81,4cc] | Testing.. 7.5.
Testing | 7.5.2015
GSF Dyno run #1

- wet airfilter (caused by carburetor problems) >> very rich jetting
- bad combustion chamber design (new combustion chamber getting finished next week .. probably)
- E85 fuel + Klotz super techniplate 2-stroke oil (3,5%)
- Top speed 93,6km/h (3rd gear); wasn't able to go any faster with higher gears (because of rich jetting
)
Now there's going to be A LOT of testing with GSF Dyno.
Love that program! Makes engine tuning very interesting.
To-do:
- New cylinder head + combustion chamber
- Fix the exhaust chamber (some small hole and few dents)
- Drill some idle jets.. (95 & 100)
- Lots of re-jetting & ignition tuning (for methanol)!
