New derbi owner....Questions (Help) :D

Ongelezen bericht door SayCheese »

Hey everyone! this is my first post in your forum :D
(Sorry for english, im from Greece :P)

Well... In a few days im gonna be a derbi senda (most possibly it will be a drd racing 50 sm) owner and i want to ask you some things

1)Is 2.000 € a good price for a 2009 drd racing 50 with 0km on?
2)Some people said to me that derbis are really slow and im gonna get bored of the fast... Is that true?
3)What's their top speed when they're original? (without restrictors)
4)What should I buy and put on it to make it go faster? (like exhaust, carburator, sprockets, etc...)
5)Are there any problems that i should check out?

I think that's all!
Thanks..!!

Hey, welcome on the forum!

2.000 euro's for a new Derbi is a good price. Most of the new Derbi's are for sale for that price.
Indeed, Derbi's are slow. But it wont get bored to fast! Its just exciting to drive one, even when its stock!!
Top speed is around 60/65 kilometres an hour on a stock Derbi.
If you want to go make it faster, you can adjust the original exhaust. Just get a drill, and drill the washer out of the beginning in the exhaust. Sprockets should be: 13t at front, and 53t at the rear. Your top speed wil be circa. 85km/h Ofcourse you need to change the main jet. you can try jets: 80 to 90. if you found the right jet, you twist out your spark plug, end the color should be nice brown after a test drive.

If you buy it new, its not neccesary to check things out. But if you want to, go ahead!

Woah! Thanks for the fast reply!

So if i change the exhaust, I'll get a 85km/h top speed? (awesome :D). What exhaust do you recomend me to get? (tecnigas, malossi, etc..)
To change the jet to 80 or 90, i will have to change my air filter too?
Should I change my carburator too?

Thanks!!!

Not jet 80 or 90, but 80,82,84,86,88,90. With one of these jets, the moped will run good. But thats up to you to chnage it, and try every one of this. And you dont have to get another carburettor.

That exhaust is a good one. But first, remove the restricors on the original exhasut.

If I change my carburettor will it improve derbi's performance?

the original carburator on a drd racing is a 17.5mm.
that is big enough for a standard derbi with another exhaust on it.

gianelli , mallosi , scr corse , yasuni are all nice and fast exhausts

just remove your limiter in the carburator and change the main jet.

(sorry about bad english)

Hey again!

I've found these 2 derbis:

1)Derbi DRD Racing 50 sm 2009 - 0km
http://www.car.gr/classifieds/bikes/photos/1868542/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

2)Derbi DRD Racing 50 malossi replica sm 2010 - 400km

Which one do you think is better/faster?
Thanks..!!

Both are even fast. The Derbi DRD Pro Malossi replica has one advantage; it has an aluminum frame so it won't rust. The Malossi replica is also slightly higher.
But for the Derbi DRD Racing are more different types of racing parts (like exhausts) available.

The DRD PRO malossi replica has however better suspension. (Up side down front fork) and is more exclusive. They are also much expensive.
The reason why there are less exhausts available for this moped, is that the DRD PRO has a right placed exhaust. The DRD racing has a left one. But if you want a exhaust like the one in the picture, it doesn't matter.

Ehh... I can't choose :P
They both are awesome..!
Oh! I forgot to mention that they are in the same price! (malossi replica is at 2000 € and the simple drd racing is at 1980 €)
Which would you get if you were in my situation?

I don't know, I like the DRD Pro most, but I don't like the colors.
You have to make the decision by yourself. :P
Maybe you can make a test ride on both of them and decide which one you think rides best.

It's kinda hard to test ride them because I live on an island and the derbi's are in other cities...
I may be able to test the DRD Racing because it's in Athens, But I wont be able to test the Malossi one, cause it's in Thessalonica.

Hey, one more question. If I'd like to change my cylinder and put on an 70cc or 80cc, which one do you recommend me to get?
Thanks!
